My Mom loves flowers. This special potted flower will be a heartfelt expression of my love for my Mom.
What materials did you use?
- Wooden 3 inch disk
- Tiny stained spring clothespins
- Wooden dowels
- Wooden butterfly, pre-painted or unfinished
- Craft paint
- Double sided scrapbook paper
- Solid colored scrapbook paper
- Craft glue
- Small watering can
- Styrofoam
- Shredded paper
How did you make your homemade Mother's day present?- Paint wooden disk which will be the center of the flower
- Using the double sided scrapbook paper, fold a 6 inch strip in half. Cut 7 petal shapes by cutting away from fold. Each finished petal measures approximately 3 inches.
- Fold each petal in half in center which will give the petal a 3 dimensional look.
- Using the solid colored scrapbook paper, cut 7 smaller or single petals.
- Assemble flower using tiny stained clothespins. Clip together double folded petal with the solid colored petal.
- Glue each assembled flower petal around the painted 3 inch wooden disk alternating colors.
- Cut a circle for center of flower using the solid colored scrapbook paper. Write "Mom" on it. Glue to center. Note: Be sure to write on each petal why you love your Mom before gluing assembled petals to wooden disk.
- Attach green painted dowel to back of disk for stem.
- Cut leaves out of felt and attach to stem.
- Put styrofoam in watering can to anchor stem in pot.
- Paint butterfly shape and glue to dowel and place in pot or use pre-painted one.
- To finish, add shredded paper on surface of the styrofoam.
