Dad's Gag Gift

by Amanda
(Canada)

My dad turned 50 a few years back. He's a pretty quiet guy so I didn't want to go to the extremes with my gag gift. So what I did is made a card - but not an ordinary card - this one was about 3 feet high and twice as wide! I decorated the front with a birthday slogan and had envelopes inside with all the family members pictures in them. Behind each picture everyone got to write something to my dad - and of course most of them poked fun at his age :)

Attached to this card, to ensure dad could see, were a pair of high magnification reading glasses from the dollar store. I attached a note to them "To help you read this card with your fading eyesight".

He thought this was great and he actually still displays it in the house (though it's not a card you can place on a shelf)

Of course with it I added a hat with a 50's slogan on it and a wiener dog stuffed animal that everyone could sign - this dog had nerdy glasses and said "Can't teach an old dog new tricks".
