I made these two frames and cards my my two moms... mom and mom-in-law for special Mother's Day gifts. I have enjoyed making home decor items lately, and thought these would make beautiful gifts.

What materials did you use to make your Mother's day present?

  • AC Cardstock
  • Open stock pattern paper by The Paper Studio
  • Two 5x7 frames from Hobby Lobby
  • Martha Stewart Punches: Scallop 1" Circle, Scallop 1" Square Punch
  • Fiskars 1.5" Round Circle Punch
  • EK Success Scroll and Dot Punch
  • Tim Holtz brads
  • The Paper Studio brads
  • Cricut Machine and cartridges: Preserves, E2 Cricut Essentials, E2 Cricut American Alphabet, Stone Script
  • Buttons from stash
  • Hot glue gun
  • Pop Dots
  • #m Scotch Scrapbooker's Glue

How did you make your homemade Mother's day present?

I found two great tutorials on youtube to create these flowers.

Rose Flower tutorial:

Carnation Flower tutorial:

I used my Cricut (Preserves) to cut out the five petal flower (one of the apple cuts using the shift key) and the large red roses at 2 inches and the smaller cream roses at 1.75 inches. I followed these awesome tutorials and created my flowers. I also inked the edges with a red ink. I then used the Martha Stewart 1" Scallop Circle Punch to create the small cream, red and blue flowers. I used the Fiskars 1.5" Round Circle Punch to create larger carnation flowers as well.

I used my Cricut to cut out leaves from Cricut Essentials at 2 inches. I inked the edges with green ink. I cut the flourishes from American Alphabet at 3 inches.

I laid out the flowers around my frames for placement. Then I used hot glue to attach the flowers, leaves and flourishes to my frames.

I used the extra matching pattern paper to create the cards. I use the EK Success Scroll and Dot punch to decorate the edges of the pattern papers. I then cut out the letter m's to match the initials on their corresponding frames (American Alphabet and Stone Script cartridges). I used some kraft cardstock and Tim Holtz brads and buttons from my stash (with DMC thread) for my banner at the bottom. I used the Martha Stewart 1" Scallop Square punch to create the punched in banner edges. I used 3M Scrapboooker's glue to attach my buttons and used Pop Dots to attach the banners to the bottoms of the cards.
