Homemade Gift Basket Ideas for Kids
I made this homemade gift basket for this adorable little boy named Leander. Leander is a cute, bubbly and *really* talkative kid who lives next door with his mom and older brother. He’s five and like most kids his age, he has a knack for saying the funniest things!
For this Christmas, I looked up a lot of homemade gift basket ideas but just couldn't find the perfect one for a bubbly kid. So instead, I got creative and made Leander a basket full of goodies that I’m sure he’ll love. I know most homemade gift basket ideas usually make use of, well, a basket but I figured kids won’t really see baskets as “fun” so I made Leander a colorful one made of cardstock instead. :)
The Basket
What you’ll need:
- 12x12 inch cardstock in a fun Christmas color
- A strip of cardstock in a complementing color for the basket handle
- A strip of patterned paper (optional)
- Double-sided tape
Step-by-step instructions:
- Click here to download the trapezoid and square templates, print and cut out each.
- Trace the trapezoid template onto your cardstock. Each trapezoid will form one side of your homemade gift basket. Repeat this step for the remaining three sides.
- Take each trapezoid and score and fold along the broken lines.
- Trace your square template onto cardstock and cut out. You can use whatever scraps you have for this and colors/design won’t matter as this is generally hidden from view. This will form the base of your basket.
- Using double-sided tape, assemble your homemade gift basket as illustrated in the photo.
- If you’re in the mood for a little more fun, decorate your basket handle before attaching it. I put a little color on mine by weaving in a strip of patterned paper.
- Now for the fun part! Unleash your creativity and decorate! I accessorized my homemade gift basket with patterned paper and a simple label. I wanted to add in a butterfly but I didn't think Leander would approve..
So. Done with the basket! Yes, it’s as easy as pie and the next part is even easier!
The Goodies
What you’ll need:
- A printer
- White cardstock
- Marshmallows
- Chocolates
- Candies
- Tic-Tacs
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Just 3 short, easy steps!
- Download and print the free printables (see download links below) on white cardstock.
- Cut out the graphics.
- Adhere to your goodies using double-sided tape.
Download Snowman Poop label here.
Download Christmas circle labels here.
Download chocolate nugget labels here.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the license to distribute this Tic-Tac Christmas label. As an alternative, you can simply wrap a Tic-Tac with patterned paper and write in your message.
Hope I somehow gave you another idea to add to your list of homemade gift basket ideas. This is really fun to do and kids are just such a delight and so easy to please you can never go wrong. ;)
