Homemade Valentine Rosebuds
Valentines Day is a great holiday to let the ones you love know that they mean a lot to you and whether it's a gag gift or a mushy gift, everyone loves being thought of. These gifts do not have to be expensive...handmade with love goes a long-g-g way!
Who did you make it for?
This is one of the gifts for my girlfriends.
What materials did you use?
Hershey Kisses, red cellophane, artificial leaves, pipe-cleaners, florist tape and tissue paper.
I also attached this poem I wrote. Feel free to use it or make up one of your own.
I'm giving you a Hershey Rose,
I grew it just for you.
Unwrap and pop it in your mouth,
And see what it will do.
It will make your tummy yummy,
And taste "OH, SO DIVINE!"
Cause' there's no one more special,
Then you, dear friend of mine!
How did you make it?I attached two kisses end to end with a small piece of doubleback tape. Center the tip of one in a square of red cellophane paper and gather at bottom. Twist the center of a pipe-cleaner around the gather of cellophane a couple of times (the pipe-cleaner becomes the stem).
Starting at the top, wrap florist tape tightly, stopping at any point to add a leaf. Hold stem of leaf against stem of flower and continue wrapping until entire stem is covered. (Tip:put a dab of glue at end tip of florist tape to secure).
I chose to wrap the rosebuds in tissue so I cut a square (I cut exactly on the natural folds of the tissue so I got 6 squares from just one piece of tissue) and rolled a flower in each. If it's for a couple, you can put in two buds. I then laid my poem on the top, punched holes and attached with ribbon.
Anything else you'd like to share about your project? This is quite an inexpensive project and makes many rosebuds. A bag of kisses holds more candy then you will need (unless you have so much fun making them, you use them all or eat the leftovers!) I purchased only one stem of artificial leaves for $1.00 and was able to make 19 roses. I also paid $1.00 for the cellophane and had half of it leftover.
