Who did you make it for?

An old college roommate to brighten her Valentine's Day and to let her know that even though we live in different states and we don't get to see each other often that she is still loved!

What materials did you use?

To make this Homemade Valentine's Day Greeting Card With Ribbon Flower you need:

  • Cardstock (White and Pink)

  • Scrapbook Paper (Pink and Patterned)

  • Picot Ribbon (Light Pink)

  • Double Sided Tape

  • Tacky Glue

  • Button

  • Glue Dots

How did you make it?
  1. Fold a piece of white cardstock in half to make a card measuring 4.375 x 5.75 inches.

  2. Cut a piece of red cardstock measuring 2 x 5.75 inches and a piece of pink scrapbook paper measuring 1.75 x 5.75 inches and place on top of white cardstock with double sided tape.

  3. Cut a piece of patterned scrapbook paper measuring 4 x 3.5 inches and place in middle of card with double sided tape.

  4. Make flower using light pink picot ribbon. Take ribbon and fold over and hold with finger so it looks like a petal. Continue making petals the same way until you make a complete circle and it looks like a flower (usually 6 to 7 petals)

  5. Once you make the 3rd petal I used a stapler to staple the petals down and once I was at the last petal I used the stapler again to secure all the petals together. Make stem using the same ribbon and place a button in the center of the flower using tacky glue.

  6. Place flower on card using glue dots.

  7. Use Microsoft Word to type "Happy Valentine's Day" and print on hot pink computer paper. Use decorative scissors to cut around edges of word and place on card with double sided tape.

Anything else you'd like to share about your project?

The ribbon flower makes the card 3 dimensional. Also, this card is unique and one of a kind since no 2 flowers come out the same!
