Pin Cushion Homemade Mother's Day Present
This is a super easy and fast special little homemade gift that any mother would cherish. For the cardmaker/scrapbooker, avid sewer or anyone who likes tea! Makes a great decorative piece as well as functional. Let me show you how!!
What materials did you use for your Mother's Day present?
- TeaCup (can be purchased at a dollar store or thrift store or you can even use 1 of grandma's cups!)
- Organza Wedding Favor Bag
- Fiberfill
- Handmade stick pins
- Sewing needle and thread
- Embellishments such as Paper Flowers, Ribbon, Paper Doily, Scalloped Cardstock Circle, mini wooden spool
- Mini photo
- Hot Glue Gun
How did you make it? First, to make the pin cushion, just take one of those little wedding favor bags and cut the string at the top that is used to close it. Remove it. Then over-stuff the bag with Fiberfill. Next just hand sew (or use machine) the bag closed. There you have a super easy pin cushion! (See photo 2)
Next, insert some tissue paper into the bottom of the tea cup and then add the pin cushion on top of that.
Then, using a hot glue gun, adhere a paper doily and cardstock scalloped circle to the bottom of the cup to serve as a saucer. Embellish with flowers, ribbon and mini spool. You can also make a little teabag to adhere to side of cup. Write a special little message on it to your mom. Just cut a piece of cardstock into a square and adhere a piece of baker's twine to the back of it. Add to teacup.
Make some handmade stick pins using pearl corsage pins or head pins and beads. Insert a mini photo onto 1 of the pins and then insert into pin cushion.
Anything else you'd like to share about your Mother's Day gift idea? You don't have to add a photo if you don't like, but if your Mom is anything like mine, she'll just love a pic or two on there!
Happy Mother's Day everyone!
