Valentine Teacher Keychain Gift
Q) What do you get when you mix Valentines Day and 5 grandchildren?
A) You get a Grandma who can act like a kid again!
What fun this holiday has been and it's not even here yet! It truly is fun creating, and along with the Classmate Valentines, I also came up with a Teacher Gift. Whenever I do this, I try to come up with something small, inexpensive, easy to make, but memorable.
Who did you make it for?
I made one for every child to give to their teachers. 5 in total. It's just a small way to say thank you for all they do for our children.
What materials did you use?
A 2"x3" block of wood, a screw eye, a key ring, and paint.
How did you make it?
Paint the wood black (to resemble a blackboard). Print in white paint (to resemble chalk) a cute title such as "Top Class Teacher". Paint a small heart with stem (to resemble apple). When dry, coat all sides with clear nail polish. Allow to dry then screw in eye at top side. (I pre-drilled a small hole first to prevent splitting wood). Attach ring to eye screw.
Anything else you'd like to share about your project?
I made a card to go along with the keychain. The heart is cut from red fun foam. I punched a hole and tied a key with ribbon to the heart. (I had spare keys but you can just trace one and cut from paper).
Glue the edges down (I used brads instead), leaving top open. Then I just used it as a pocket and inserted the keychain. I also included a Hershey Rosebud to go along with the card. On the envelope, I attached a small teacher certificate I found on the internet that is free to print.
