Last updated: June 26, 2026 by the Homemade Gifts Coloring Team
Dress coloring pages are all the fashion in the court this season! Historical dramas and fantasy tales are on the rise, which means that the royal ballgown, fae princess, elven chic, greek goddess, and so much more are back in style. If you love your fantasy stories or amazing fashion, these dress coloring pages are perfect to get creative with colors and patterns!
When I was a little girl, I liked playing dress up, but I loved drawing and designing new outfits even more. I wish I had these awesome coloring pages when I was younger, because I surely could have been a fashion designer by now! One thing I always enjoyed about coloring dresses was how they allowed me to practice shading. These dress coloring pages are great for letting yourself explore not only color and style, but textures as well!

Coloring Your Dress Printables
Wondering what you can do with your coloring pages to bring them to life? We’ve got some awesome coloring and crafting tips for you to try out.
Playing With Texture
Our dress coloring pages can give you a head start on a design. After you’ve colored your design, feel free to paste any sequins, fabric, beads, etc. to the page.
If you want to be bold, take it a step further: print a larger copy and paste it to a piece of cardstock or foam core poster for extra support. Next, cut out pieces of fabric that you’d like to see your dress in, and paste where you’d like for the pieces to drape for a flowy look. Add any additional beadwork or lace you prefer! You could use this as a stepping stone to making your very own dress.
Shading a Dress
The easiest way to play with shading on a dress is to pretend that it is a curtain or drape—especially if the gown is flowy. First, you’ll want to mark your page for where the light source is coming from (i.e., left, right, above, below).
If you want to create a deep curve in the dress, aim to do a sharper contrast between light and dark colors. If you want to give the gown a slight ruffle, try for a subtle color change from dark to light. Once you get the hang of drape-shading, try adding texture to the dress. Personally, starting with a fishscale or ruffle design is my go to because it is consistent and allows you to practice intersecting shadows. Work your way up to lace if you’re brave!
Mix and Match!
Color, color, color all the pages you love with reckless abandon. Then you’re going to cut out the dresses. Don’t get too attached, though! Next, we’re going to cut the top from the bottom. Put your dresses on shuffle, mix and match the designs and the textures you’ve created with other dresses. Does the top of a sari go with a woodland elf design? It could!
