Coloring Tips for Your Animal Coloring Pages
Whether you’re looking at animal coloring pages for kids or for adults, these coloring tips will take your creations to the next level! Grab your markers, colored pencil, or crayons and dive in with these tips in your back pocket.
Use Shadow and Light
Even with easy animal coloring pages, you paying attention to shadow and light will add dimension to your image. And it’s not hard even for a beginner. Let’s say you’re coloring a bright blue bird. To add some shadow, you can use a darker shade of blue or even a color like purple. To add light, simply leave areas a little less colored in. Think about where the sun is coming from in your image. Try to have one consistent light source so that your shadow and light “make sense” within your image.
Blend Colors to Get New Combos
You can also blend colors to get whole new colors for your image. There are tons of combinations you can make by mixing your favorite colors. Use red and blue to make purple. Use green and yellow to make seafoam for a cute baby sea animal. Use purple and yellow for a cool mauve-toned animal. It’s totally up to you!
Let Your Creativity Fly!
All of the above said, you can apply these techniques however you want. A cat doesn’t need to be brown. A yellow lab doesn’t need to be yellow. A fish doesn’t need to be blue. You can have a purple cat or a green dog. You can make your cute animal coloring pages whatever you want. Don’t let reality limit you!
