Dragon coloring pages are the perfect way to get your imagination going! Ever since the popularity of dragon animated movies, dragons have been a favorite fantastical creature around my house. My toddler spends half his time pretending to fly on toy dragons. What’s not to love with their wicked scales, sharp talons, huge teeth, and massive wings? Did you know that not all dragons breathe fire?

Dragon Crafts for Kids and Adults

Looking for some fierce crafts to transform those awesome dragon coloring pages? Below, we have a small collection of craft ideas to get your started!

Clothespin Dragons

Turn your boring old clothespins into a terrifying mythical beast! If you don’t have a clothespin, a chip clip will work just as well. Determine what color to paint the clothespin—my favorite color is red, but green is also a great option! Now all you need are googly eyes, construction paper, and glue.

Glue on the eyes toward the top of the clothespin so that when you squeeze it the mouth opens. Next, cut out your construction paper (of your favorite color, of course) in the shape of wings. Finally, glue the wings onto the clothespin, adding any extra details and adornments that you like! Pipe cleaners make wicked “flames” for example.

Dragon Eggs

Have you ever wondered what a dragon egg looks like? Let’s make one out of a stone from outside. Find a stone that you believe could contain a dragon—typically, a smooth, oval one. Next, bring the stone inside and give it a good wash with soapy water and dry it as best you can. Break out the painting supplies and go to town! You don’t have to stop at paint though. Try gluing sequins, gems, rhinestones, and more! Tell a story about what type of dragon you hope hatches.

Dragon Stickers

Make your own dragon stickers using our awesome dragon coloring pages. This is such a fun and easy craft that you can do over and over! All you need is sticker paper, our coloring pages, coloring utensils (markers work best!), scissors, and your imagination. Print out your favorite dragon onto blank sticker paper, color to your preference, cut out around your dragon, then peel and stick!

Breathe Fire Like a Dragon

While not all dragons breathe fire (some produce ice!), we can certainly pretend that we do! You’ll need a toilet paper roll or a paper towel roll (cut into smaller sections), colored tissue paper, and glue. All you need to do is cut your tissue paper into strips—as long or as short as you like—and paste those strips into the inside of one end of the tube. Wait for your “fire” to dry before roaring and blowing through the opposite end of the tube. Who can produce the biggest fire?

Decorate With Dragon Scales

Dragons are some of the biggest mythical reptiles that have come to life in our imagination, in our culture, and on the big screen. I’ve always wondered what it would feel like to pet one, what about you? This is a great craft for decorating your journal cover. Choose your favorite colored construction paper and begin cutting out scale-shaped pieces. Glue them overlapping on the cover of your journal for that dragon-scaled look. For more advanced dragon scales, try cutting out thin pieces of fake leather and gluing them. To take this craft over the top, use this technique on an old shoebox to store all of your favorite collectibles. Don’t forget, dragons love to hoard unique items!
