As a teacher, I know the first days of school can feel overwhelming. Every child walks into the classroom with their own story, interests, and personality, and it’s important for the students to have a chance to share who they are while discovering what makes their classmates unique and what they have in common. Use Them At The Start Of The Year
Start the school year by giving students a chance to share a little about themselves. These All About Me worksheets are a great first-day or first-week activity, helping students get to know their classmates and giving teachers/parents a glimpse into their personalities, interests, and favorites. You can even collect the completed pages to create a class yearbook to look back on later.
Get Kids Talking
Use All About Me worksheets as a conversation starter during the first few days of school. Have students share their answers with a partner or small group, then invite them to find classmates who share similar interests or discover something new about one another. You could also have students take turns sharing a favorite answer with the whole class. If a group knows each other well, play a “guess who” game. Read one out loud at a time, without saying their name, and see if students can guess who it is about!
Make A Time Capsule
Turn your students’ All About Me worksheets into a time capsule that captures who someone is right now. Fill one out on a birthday, at the start of a new year, or during another milestone, then tuck it away to revisit later. Comparing old answers can be a fun way to see how favorite foods, hobbies, interests, and goals evolve over time. Add a photo, drawing, or small keepsake to make the time capsule even more personal.
Make Character Profiles
All About Me worksheets don’t have to be about real people. Get creative by using them to make profiles for favorite book characters, imaginary friends, or characters of your own invention. They can also be a fun addition to a creative writing class, book club, or writing activity for adults. Filling out the prompts from a character’s perspective is a great way to think more deeply about who they are and bring their personality to life.
