Capybaras are adorable, but their brown fur can make them a bit of a challenge to color. Here are some tips to help you along!
Mix and Match
Mixing colors can help a lot when you’re going for a neutral tone like brown. You can mix a ton of colors to make brown, such as orange and green. In fact, any complementary colors will work. That’s because complementary colors are opposites that “cancel” each other out and result in a neutral shade like brown. We recommend orange and green because you can use the orange to get a more natural capybara-like color out of this mix.
Use Light and Shadow to Your Advantage
Pay attention to shadows and highlights. These can help you add dimension when you’re working with a neutral shade like brown. You can use the two colors you mixed to make brown for your light and shadow as well.
For example, if you used orange and green, green might be better for the shadows, especially if it’s a cool, dark green, while orange is a brighter color that might be nice for highlights. You can test your shadows and highlights on some scrap paper before applying them to your capybara coloring pages.
