Minute to Win It Games for Kids

These minute to win it games are simple enough for the kids to play. They’re great for a birthday party or classroom activity.

Cookie Face

Place a cookie on everyone’s forehead. When you start the timer, the kids have one minute to try to get the cookie to their mouth - without using their hands!

Curling

Have you ever seen curling in the Olympics? It looks so fun and you can do a very simple version at home. Get a table and tape several lines on it. The players will slide items like oreos or quarters across the table, trying to get closest to whatever line you mark as the “center.” Of course, players can knock each other’s pieces around.

Coordination Challenge

Hold your nose with your right hand and your left ear with your left hand. Now switch! Players should clap in between each switch, trying to do as many successful switches as possible in one minute.

Inner Tube Ring Toss

Blow up your inflatable tubes for this minute to win it game. You’ll need teams of two. One team member will try to toss the tube over the other, like human ring toss.

Hide and Seek

This is hide and seek with a twist. Hide several objects around the house (more objects = higher difficulty, so tailor this to the children’s age). When you start the timer, they have one minute to find all the objects. You can use several of the same object to make it more fun, for example, 10 spoons or eight candies.

Suck It Up

Players get a straw and a whole plate of little candies. You guessed it. They have to get the candies from one plate to another plate or jar.

Hourglass

You’ll need some empty plastic water bottles for this minute to win it game. Fill one with a small object like cereal or bits of candy. Tape it to another bottle. Players have to get the objects from one bottle into the other, like sand in an hourglass passing from one side to the other.

Candy Balance

Players must carry a precarious stack of candy from one end of the room to a bowl on the other end. You can change the difficulty of this several ways. For example, they could have to balance the candy on their head and not use their hands. They could have the candy on a popsicle stick clenched in their teeth and have to transfer the candy to a partner.

Pencil Pounce

Set up a rubber eraser and small glass. Players have to bounce unsharpened pencils off the eraser and into the cup for this minute to win it game.

Cereal Tower

This one is tough. You need to build a tower from pieces of cereal. Cereals like Cheerios work especially well for this. But the only tool you have is a chopstick that you clench between your teeth. Good luck!

Feather Float

When you say go, players have to keep a feather aloft without using their hands. If anyone can last the full minute, they certainly deserve a prize!

Hot Potato

Don’t worry. The potato won’t actually be hot. The goal is to roll the potato from one side of the room to the other. The catch? You can only use a spoon. Or, if you want to make this extra hard, you can only use your nose!

tebahplA

How good are you at the alphabet? Okay, but can you do it backwards? Players have one minute to get through the alphabet backward. If multiple players manage this impressive feat, the winner is whoever was fastest.

Beer-Less Pong

This one might sound familiar but there is no beer or chugging involved (we’re not in college anymore). Instead, stack your Solo cups in a pyramid. Bounce a ping pong ball across a room or table and try to knock down the stack in one minute.

Valentine’s Candy Toss

Get yourself plenty of Valentine’s Be Mine candy hearts. Players have to toss them into a container at the other end of a table.
