Remember that not everything scary is a dark tone; though, sometimes, it is! For example, our creepy clown would look great in bright colors with a dingy touch around the edges and a sepia-esque backdrop. Try coloring with psychedelic or neon colors to emphasize contrast between dark and light. Sometimes creating such an extreme contrast shows how different or abnormal the scene is.
Now is a perfect time to practice your shading with all the fabric folds. Adding shadows on characters and backgrounds can create a depth. Mixing media will give you a great range of texture and shadow. My favorite way to color these pages is by starting with markers as a base layer and then using colored pencils to add finer textures and shadows.

A picture is worth a thousand words; write them down! It doesn’t have to be a thousand; some of the scariest stories I’ve ever read are short, sweet and absolutely terrifying. Sometimes, it’s not what you say but what you don’t say. Creating a mystery of the unknown is part of what makes things creepy. Use our horror coloring pages as a springboard for your scary story!

For this fun craft you'll need need either: a black light and neon markers, or glow-in-the-dark paint or markers. First, pick your favorite horror coloring pages and decide the size of your poster. (You can also create a collage to include more than one image.) Next, color to your heart’s desire.
Remember to make some dark spots in the design. It's easiest to color these in dim lighting, so you can see the lines, while it's still dark enough to see where you’re placing the highlights.
For the pros! This forbidden technique is for the most daring. Inverse, or negative, blacklight painting uses UV-reactive paint in an inverted palette. To achieve this, you must switch light/dark tones and complementary colors. The easiest way learn this process is to color your scary coloring pages as you normally would. Then, take a photo of it with your phone, and have your phone invert the colors in the image. That shows you which colors to use when you repaint the negative image.
